The 14th of February, 2020 marks exactly one year in office of Dr. (Mrs) C. C. Utoh-Ojemudia  as the First Woman to Head the Federal College Of Animal Health and Production Technology,Vom Plateau State since it's establishment in 1941 either on acting or substantive status.




She took over the mantle of leadership on Acting Capacity from Prof G.H Sharubutu,mni following the conclusion of his Five (5) Years Tenured appointment. Before her acting appointment in February,2019,She has earnestly contributed to the development of knowledge and scholarship in the college




Dr. Ojemudia a  Doctor of Philosophy ( Education English Curriculum ), is an exceptional teacher and scholar who assumed office with a Seven (7)cardinal point policy thrust as her vision for the College, tailored towards attaining and sustaining excellence:




 (1)Academic Excellence and Integrity.




 (2)Administration and Finance,




(3)Academic programs and curricular,




(4)Equipping of e-library to boast information and communication Technology




(5) Staff and Students Welfare, Upgrading of Physical Facilities and the Environment.




(6)Collaborative partnership and linkages with reputable institutions and organizations.




(7)Partnering on community policing to fight crime and criminality.




Committed to transforming the institution, the Ag.Provost commence marching words with action on the thematic areas of focus; as a result, significant progress has been recorded to better the lot of staff and students of the college in the areas of :


1. CRITCAL INFRASTRATURAL DEVELOPMENT: – The institution has in the past one year started and completed several infrastructural projects with others on the stage of completion notably:


A. Construction of students Hall of Residence.




B. Construction of Clinical Multipurpose Laboratory




C. Provision of Solar Powered street light as alternative source of energy on campus.




D. Secured Special intervention for the Renovation of Veterinary Clinic through Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,Abuja.






The Chaha road project initiated by her Predecessor Prof Sharubutu,mni, She continue Consultation alongside the Governing Board with Plateau State Ministry of works for the   rehabilitation of Chaha Campus 3.5km road networks.








The installation of solar power panels around college premises, facilities including cost female hostel,Boys Hostel and Chaha Campus. This cost saving major slices down the humongous electricity bill of the College.




while also serving as a launchpad to the much touted utilization of alternative energy sources.








Staff and Students welfare is at the heart of the administration’s policy thrust, the Provost since assumption of office has maintained an open door policy that gives staff and students access to her office.




√• Payment of year 2019                   Promotion arrears and Allowances claims to deserving staff.




å Ensure immediate implementation of the year 2020 Promotion following approval by the Governing Board.






 √• The training and retraining of staff has been sustained and staff of the college continue to gain training, including Non Academic staff  for Professional training at College of Accountancy,Kwal, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in addition to those attending  programs at various Polytechnics and Universities in and around the country to enable them enhance professional skills for improved service delivery and productivity.




 √•  Academic sponsirship are granted for lecturers to attend conferences and encourage the teaching staff to advance their knowledge in their various disciplines so as to in turn impart same on the students.








å Synergy with the students union government keeps them informed of developments in the College ,Management through the office of the Dean of Students Affairs is carrying them along in the campaign against exam malpractice, cultism and other social vices that is becoming a major bane of tertiary institutions of learning in the country.




Sponsored the 2019 Provost Cup sports tournament with all Departments and students participating.




Hosted the the 14th,15th and 16th of the Students Product Exhibition as a way of showcasing their entrepreneurial skills of self reliance and self sufficiency.










å Collaboration with the Nigeria Police:




Concerted efforts have been employed towards strengthening the security architecture of the college, this was supported by the Plateau State Police Command through the Divisional Police Officer of K/Vom Division in partnering with the college in the area rapid response community policing to help fight crimes and criminality in and around the college and the host community.




å Engagement of Professional hunters and other Private security outfit for surveillance and intelligence gathering in and around major college installations.








The Ag.Provost through the former Provost and now Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN)Prof. G.H Sharubutu,mni championed the course for academic linkage with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi to Commence B-Tech degree Programmes begining from 2020/2021 Academic session.




The move,  widely asserted will liberalize the space and allow for the introduction of Degree courses in Animal Production Technology,Agricultural  Sciences and  Agricultural Economics and Extension and Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Health and Production Technology. these courses are urgently needed to close the literacy gap and shore up the low human development index needed in the field of Veterinary services and food production.




The National Universities Commission (NUC) sent reputable resources verification team to the college between 26th-29th November,2019 and the report submitted by the Visiting Team to the NUC strongly confirmed the strength of the college to mount the B-Tech Programmes. I am glad to report that the National Universities Commission has granted approval to the college to commence the  Program.




 The Ag.Provost had vigorously pursued the National Universities Commission (NUC), to allow the college in collaboration with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi to commence the program which has been greeted with huge excitement by stakeholders in the education sector on the Plateau.








The conglomeration of stakeholders and interest groups in the College comprising of the Academic Staff Union of Colleges of Agriculture(ASUCA), and the Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) are partners in the formation of a formidable synergy and cooperation for the overall progress and development of the College. This has resulted to industrial harmony in the college paving the way for development and progress.




5. Achieving Academic Integrity has been one of the cardinal objective of the Dr(Mrs) C.C. Utoh-Ojemudia at FCAH&PT,Vom. This is pursued through renewed standards for teaching and learning to guarantee


sanctity of the process.




 Indiscipline either by staff or students is not tolerated, this has eventually entrenched a culture of discipline and commitment to duty even as students have new understanding of taking responsibility and ensuring that the acquisition of knowledge is devoid of questionable tendencies and certificates awarded by the college can be defended any day, anytime, whenever or wherever such a need may arise.




Efforts are underway to resuscitate Certificate Programmes in Poultry Production,Beef Cattle Production ,Sheep and Goat Production,Knitting,Tailoring and Hair dressing and also uphold high standard in the quality of teaching delivery for Middle level Manpower development in the country.








In furtherance of her train the trainers policy,the following programmes were hosted by the college to further expose staff to Practical acquisition of modern techniques.




√•  Training on Pedagogical skills in collaboration with Winrock International,USA.




√•  Training on equipment installation in collaboration with Alpha Zoetis.




√•  Advance Digital Appreciation Programmes for Tertiary Institutions in collaboration with NCC,Abuja.




√•  Training on artificial bovine insemination in collaboration with Senior College Veterinarians.




The covid-19 pandemic that has thrown the world into panic with its attendant challenges has no doubt cast a dampening effect on lives and livelihoods and institutions of learning are not left out. It also presents an opportunity for institutions of learning to initiate groundbreaking research that will help the country towards arresting the tide of infection and treatment of COVID 19 Pandemic.








The Management  under her leadership has conduct and executes the first and Second phase of disinfestation exercise on 19th May,2020  and 21st May, 2020 in order to guarantee a safe and healthy environment.




The Deputy Provost Dr. Jude O. Okpara who coordinated the exercise with experts drawn from the  Environmental Health  and other relevant departments noted the need to keep the campus away from the spread of the disease.




The Provost in her solidarity remarks noted that, "Disinfestation is Over of the critical step adopted to facilitates the prevention and control of infection.




She further affirmed that "I would continue to guarantee safe and healthy environment for the benefit of humanity and to the glory of the system".








In continuation of  Management support  to ongoing efforts to mitigate COVID 19 pandemic, the Provost on Wednesday 30th April,2020 Donate Face Masks and Hand Sanitizer to the Vwang Traditional council for distribution to the vulnerable group.




The Provost noted that "the college have been in the forefront of going over the virus and symptoms prevention,social distancing ,hand washing and to make sure our staff and communities stay safe in these unprecedented times".




The Dagwom Rwey of Vwang DA GYANG BALAK "acknowledge with deep appreciation the kind gesture of the college to these supplies and says the college contribution to Vwang District remain legendary".




Provost noted that we are one united community and that we will overcome this Pand emic by helping each other in any way we can.








The Entrepreneurship centre in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Provost is spearheading the production of face masks and alcohol based hand sanitizers just as the college management has adopted the basic prevention protocol issued by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC),Federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization




Safe to say, the mandate of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology,Vom to be a leading class Vocational and Technical Education training institution in Nigeria through excellence in teaching, learning and research is loftily and relentlessly pursued under her leadership. of hard work and uprightness.




There is absolutely no gainsaying in the fact that, this miracle worker with support of her management has performed and achieved enough in a short while despite constraints
