ARCN LEADS FEDERAL COLLEGES OF AGRICULTURE TO 2021 BUDGET DEFENCE

 

 

The Executive Secretary of the ARCN Prof. G. Sharubutu mni, on Wednesday 11th Nov, 2020 led Provosts of Federal Colleges of Agriculture to appear before the Senate Committee on Agriculture to defend their respective colleges budget proposal for 2021 fiscal year.

 

In defending the ARCN Budget, the ES stated that the roles of the council had continued to expand on the supervision of all Research institutes and colleges of Agricultural in order to improve the agricultural research system as well as key into the current administration diversification drive as enablers.

 

In his remarks, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Senator Abdullahi Adamu promised to support the agricultural institutions to enable them drive the federal government diversification agenda.

 

Provost of the college, Dr. Jude Okpara, while speaking before the Senate committee on Agriculture to defend the college Budget, said the college needs more funding for operational efficiency and effectiveness. "There is need for adequate resources allocation for the achievement of the college mandate in middle level manpower training.

 

According to the  Provost "The college has demonstrated its commitment to human capacity development for  over  50 years, he appeal to the committee to consider an upward review of the college subvention from the Government to enable it service the payment of its staff salaries and as well execute capital projects  which are essential for teaching, research and entrepreneurial development and as requirements for NBTE  accreditation and reaccreditation.

 

At the Presentation were Provosts with their Budget / Account officers of All Federal Colleges of Agriculture in Nigeria.
